Archil Nikoleishvili, Head of the National Forestry Agency, visited Kakheti region, where he, together with representatives of local government, met with Telavi population and talked about the importance of "business yards". The National Forestry Agency changes the practice of timber production. Social logging will be phased out, the Agency will organize the production, sorting, and warehousing of timber in so-called "business yards".

The new Forest Code is an important part of the forest sector reform, the main goal of which is to establish a multi-purpose forest use, preserve and protect forest ecosystems, and use its social and economic benefits wisely. Arranging the so-called "business yards", along with other innovations provided by the Code, has become one of the main tools for the introduction of sustainable forest management. At the initiative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the works are being carried out in almost all regions of Georgia. By the end of the year, a total of 26 "business yards" will be built across the country.

This change will make it easier for the population and the private sector to purchase and transport timber at the desired time. As a result, forest use in production timber resources will be implemented much more efficiently, reducing the negative impact on the forest, as well as the risks of illegal logging.
