Large-scale cleaning up action
In connection with the intensification of the tourist season, on the initiative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, a cleaning up action was held in the vicinity of Lake Sioni. Along with Archil Nikoleishvili, the Head of the National Forestry Agency, well-known public figures - actors, athletes, civil activists, and journalists - took part in the event.
Due to high temperatures, summer is a particularly dangerous time. At the same time, according to statistics, the main cause of forest fires is human negligence, which often leads to disastrous results. Well-known public figures have once again called on residents to exercise caution when moving in the woods and not to leave waste in nature.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, especially during the intensification of the tourist season, has repeatedly called on the population to observe safety rules in the forest and to comply with the bans that apply when arranging picnic areas and lighting bonfires in the area. The National Forestry Agency annually places information-warning signs in fire-hazardous areas and most visited places during the tourist season across the country.
The event aims to raise the environmental awareness of the society, to actively involve it in the process of the preservation and improvement of the environment.
