The "Business yard" was organized in Gurjaani. Archil Nikoleishvili, Head of the National Forestry Agency, met with local government officials to discuss the importance of forest management, including "business yards" under the new Code. The National Forestry Agency is changing the practice of timber production. The social cuts will be abolished step by step, the agency will organize the production of timber, sorting, and storage in the so-called "business yards."

The new Forest Code is an important part of the Forest Sector Reform, the main goal of which is to establish multi-purpose forest use, maintain and protect forest ecosystems, and use social and economic benefits wisely. The organization of the so-called "business yards", along with other innovations provided by the Code, is one of the main tools for the introduction of sustainable forest management. At the initiative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, works are underway in almost all regions of Georgia. By the end of the year, a total of 26 "business yards" will be arranged across the country.

This change will make it easier for residents and the private sector to purchase and transport timber at their preferred time. As a result, timber production will be much more efficient, and the negative impact on the forest, as well as the risks of illegal logging, will be reduced.
