The National Forestry Agency is changing the practice of timber production. Social cuts will be phased out, the agency will organize the production of timber, sorting, and storage in the so-called "business yards."

Yuri Nozadze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture spoke about the importance of forest management, including "business yards" under the New Forest Code, at a meeting with the population in Sagarejo. The event was attended by local self-government representatives.
At the initiative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, a "business yards" will be organized in all regions of Georgia.

This change will make it easier for residents and the private sector to purchase and transport timber at their preferred time.

"It should be noted, that the new Forest Code, which has already been approved by the Georgian Parliament, is an important part of the forest sector reform, the main goal of which is to establish multi-purpose forest use, maintain and protect forest ecosystems, and use social and economic benefits. "The arrangement of the so-called "business yard", along with other innovations provided by the Code, is one of the main tools for the introduction of sustainable forest management," - said Yuri Nizadze.

Work is underway to arrange a "business yard" in almost all regions of Georgia. By the end of the year, a total of 26 "business yards" will be arranged across the country.

As a result, forest use in the production of timber resources will be much more efficient, and the negative impact on the forest as well as illegal logging will be reduced.
