The head of the National Forestry Agency, Archil Nikoleishvili, introduced the media to the agency's activities and significant achievements in 2019. Forest restoration, improving the sanitary condition of the forest, forest inventory, organized forest use and increasing the availability of legal timber, multi-purpose forest use - this is a list of issues for which media representatives have received exhaustive information from the agency’s management. The main challenge for the agency also remains new mechanisms for providing firewood, new jobs in the regions and the promotion of forest education.

The meeting was organized by the Center for Education and Information on Environmental Protection, with financial support from the German Society for International Cooperation GIZ. It should also be noted, that with the support of the German government, an action plan and a communication strategy for the forest sector were developed, the main purpose of which is to increase public awareness, transparency of the process and the involvement of all interested parties.
