The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, in connection with the approaching tourism season, calls on the population to observe safety measures in the forest and to comply with the prohibitions that apply to kindling fires and picnics in the territory. The National Forestry has installed additional informational-warning signs Agency in allover Georgia on fire hazardous areas and places that are particularly haunted during the tourism season.

Campfire is prohibited on the territory of the state forest fund under tree crowns, young coniferous forest, in a burnt forest, damaged forest areas (forests felled or broken by the wind), in logging sites that are not cleaned of waste products, in places where felled logs are left, in peat and places with dried grass.

In other places of the forest fund, making fires is allowed, in case of preliminary preparation of a campfire site. Preparing the campfire site means cleaning the area from easily ignited objects (straw, dry grass, leaves, branches) within a radius of 1.5 m from the hearth of the fire.

Summer is especially flammable period, due to the high temperature. At the same time, according to statistics, the main cause of forest fires is human carelessness, which can lead to serious consequences. According to the Code of Administrative Offenses, violation of fire safety requirements, which resulted in the upraise or spread of a fire in a certain area of a forest, as well as, destruction or damage to the forest as a result of setting fire or careless handling of fire, will incur a penalty of one hundred to two hundred Lari.

In the case of upraising of a fire in the forest due to carelessness, the law implies imprisonment from four to eight years.
