The winners of the Niko Ketskhoveli competition are revealed

The final round of the 2019 Niko Ketskhoveli School Prize was held at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport. The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Natia Zedginidze and the Chairman of the Committee of the Environment Protection and Natural Resources Kakha Kuchava adressed a finalists. Besides of this, the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture identified the best teacher. Levan Davitashvili handed the "Green Award 2019" to Tea Talakhadze, the teacher of the Bazaleti public school of Kharagauly district. At the final stage, regional schools of Georgia presented the significant changes that they carried out throughout the year in big cities and in small villages in response to global problems.

The jury, represented by state, international and scientific organizations, identified three winners from 32 team schools participants: I place - the school of the village Rokiti (Imereti); II place - Orthodox school of St. Alexy Shushania (Samegrelo); III place - "Georgian educational institution" (Tbilisi).

At the initiative of the National Forestry Agency, an informative excursion to the Borjomi Gorge will be held for the winner schools. The Deputy Head of the National Forestry Agency, Natia Iordanishvili, handed presents to the first place winner - Rokiti school a symbolic gift - the five-volume "Earth", and Animals Encyclopedy to the favorite team of the Forestry Agency - Telavi Public school N2.

One representative from each  team-winner will take part in the ten-day Green Camp, which will end with a five-day educational program “Young Ranger” in the Protected Area of Georgia. In addition, the leader of the school of the village  Rokiti Nana Labadze, will spend one working day together with the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

The "favorite school" of the Center for Education and Information on Environmental Protection has become the Galvani village public school of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti municipality. The education center will arrange a green library in the school library room.

The school educational competition - Niko Ketskhoveli School Award is organized by CENN in 2015, with financial support of the Austrian  Cooperation for Development. The competition organizers also are the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and the Parliament of Georgia. The theme for the 2019 Award is the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and it brings together about 500 schools across the country.
