Agency starts works against lpstypographus

The National Forestry Agency continues to combat lpstypographus. The deputy head of the agency Natia Iordanishvili had familiarized with the process of sanitary felling on the territory of the Plateau in Borjomi on the spot. The Agency carries out sanitary logging throughout the country, the main purpose of which is the rehabilitation of damaged forests. Trees that can cause the spread of parasitic diseases are marked for logging.

From 2016, the National Forestry Agency  provides sanitary cutting on an area of ​​269 hectares in the Borjomi Plateau. After the sanitary felling, a signifitiant improvement in the condition of the trees is noticeable. In addition, foresters-specialists of the Agency are implementing forest restoration activities. Since 2017, an area of ​​27.7 hectares   forests natural regeneration has been supported.

On the territory of Samtskhe-Javakheti (in the forests of Akhaltsikhe, Aspindza-Akhalkalaki, Adigeni, Borjomi and Bakuriani) on an area of ​​26,000 hectares, the National Forestry Agency has conducted a study of parasites spread since 2013. Based on the results measures to combat them were planned. Pheromone traps were placed throughout the territory, conducted constant monitoring, captured and exterminated parasites. The same events will be held in 2019.
