Students of Batumi State University took part in trees planting works in Borjomi

Agriculture specialists of Batumi State University of Shota Rustaveli joined the restoration works of the forest damaged by fire in August 2008 and 2017 in Borjomi Valley, in the village of Daba.

More than 50 coniferous seedlings grown at National nursery were planted by students in supervision of forester- specialists in the adjacent areas of the village Daba.

Natia Iordanishvili, the Deputy Head of LEPL National Forestry Agency informed the students about forest restoration project. As of today, up to 120,000 coniferous species have been planted in the damaged area.

The forest perimeter damaged by fire in Borjomi Gorge totals 943 ha. At the first phase (2018-2019), 250 ha area will be rehabilitated. The forest will be restored on 144 ha area, where up to 400 000 seeds will be planted in October-November, 2018. The works will be renewed in the spring of 2019.
