The Deputy Minister of  Environment Protection and Agriculture visited the village Daba, Borjomi Gorge, which was burnt in 2008-2017 August.  Planting   activities are already started on the damaged forest territory.  The local self-government   representatives together with   the Deputy Minister and Akhaltsikhe forestry Vocational College "Opizari" students were also involved in the planting activities. There were up to 4000 coniferous species planted, which are cultivated in the National Forestry Agency nurseries near the village Daba.  The local population is  involved in forest restoration process.  There is about 943  perimeter  hectares destroyed by the fire in Borjomi Gorge.   On the first stage, 250 ha will be restored in 2018-2019.

In October and November this year the forest restoration will cover 144 ha, where over 400.00 seedlings will be planted.  The planting process will be carried out under the forest specialist   supervision.  Last year, the complex study of geological and soil laboratory research was carried out. Based on the results and based on the field monitoring, National Forestry Agency specialists have prepared a project for forest restoration. The main goal of the project is to restore the original forest ecosystem in the valley, for which only local, standard seedling is used. Container seedling grown up in the National Nursery is used for forest restoration, too.

The forest restoration activities will be restarted in 2019.
