Forest cleaning works in the village Daba

The cleaning activities of   fire damaged forest territory in Borjomi gorge, village of Daba  is almost completed, which was cleaned mainly from the burnt and erosive trees.  The fence integrity restoration, the soil restoration and acting against the erosion is already done on the perimeter. The plant activities will be started at the beginning of October. On the first phase   250 hectare of forest area is up to restoration (2018-2019).

Only in autumn season the forest restoration will be implemented   on 144 hectare area. There will be planted up to 400 000 coniferous seedling. According to previous experience local population will be involved in plant activities this year as well. The plant activities will be observed by the forest specialists. 

The main purpose of the forest restoration project is to restore the original forest ecosystem in the gorge, for which the standard seedling will be used.  The cultivation of coniferous and deciduous species seedlings are done in nurseries of the National Forestry Agency, which are situated near the forest zone. The container seedlings, cultivated in national nurseries, are used for forest restoration as well.
