The Head of the National Forestry Agency, Kakha Tsertsvadze, was in the "business yard" of the Gurjaani municipality, where he got acquainted with the current works in the Kakheti region together with Giorgi Aladashvili, the State Trustee.

"Our main goal, together with the development of forestry, is to facilitate access to wood resources for the population and the private sector. Social felling will be replaced by convenient services of the Forestry Agency to make firewood and other wood resources easily accessible to the population," said the Head of the National Forestry Agency.

According to the forest reform, the complete transition to purchasing firewood from "business yards" is planned for 2026. Organized timber production and the development of multi-purpose forest use ensure the smooth use of firewood by the population and the creation of additional jobs in rural areas, increasing the opportunities for income.

At the initiative of the National Forestry Agency, 39 "business yards" are operating in almost all regions, which ensures the simplification of the provision of all information and services related to the forest. By the end of 2023, an additional 17 "business yards" will be organized throughout the country.
