Sustainable forest management in Adigeni municipality

The project "Sustainable Forest Management in Adygeni Municipality" first stage results were discussed at the workshop by representatives of the National Forestry Agency, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

The project is implemented by the representatives of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Caucasus Program Consortium and Zavita Consulting with the financial support of the Slovenian government.

Within the framework of the project, inventory works were carried out on an area of ​​30 thousand ha in the municipality of Adigeni, forest management, and recreational development plans were worked out, and the "business yard" was equipped with the necessary equipment for effective operation, employees of the Forestry Agency were trained.

At the meeting, the parties, together with the implemented measures, talked about future actions and cooperation. It was noted that from 2023, within the framework of the project, a large-scale training program on work safety in forests will be implemented, forest roads will be organized taking into account Slovenian practices, and ecotourism infrastructure will be created - footpaths, camping, and picnic areas.

The main goals of the project "Sustainable Forest Management in Adigeni Municipality" are to improve the socio-economic conditions of local communities united in sustainable forest management and environmental agreements in Adigeni Municipality.
