LEPL National Forestry Agency initiated the cleaning action regarding the World Environment Day in Kvareli municipality. In the framework of the campaign -" say no to plastic" the members of the Eco-Club Public School # 2 in Akhalsofeli participated in the action on the territory of the state forest fund. Natia Iordanishvili, the Deputy Head of Forestry Agency talked to the Eco-Club members on the importance of World Environment Day. The aim of celebrating environmental day is to raise awareness of human beings responsible to nature, contribution to sustainable development of environment and active involvement of the society in the fight for environmental sustainability and improvement.

Today, Natia Iordanishvili handed over school- nursery project created by the forester specialists, to the pupils of “eco-club” which will be arranged in the school yard from September. The pupils will sow the seeds of chestnut and lime, take cuttings of aspen and decorative roses and then take care of the plants themselves.

On 15 December 1972, the UN General Assembly declared June 5 as the World Environment Day. On this day, the UN Conference was opened in Stockholm, which was dedicated to discussing the problems of human habitats.
