The presentation of the electronic timber resource management system program was held in Tbilisi

"Strengthening Sustainable Forestry in Georgia - Implementation of Timbeter Innovative Timber Technology", the participants discussed the importance of the introduction of an electronic timber management system.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Yuri Nozadze and Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Georgia Reina Kalyurand.
The project was implemented by the Estonian company "Timbeter" with the financial support of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and technical support of Geo the Georgian Environmental Organization.

Under the project, test works were carried out on business yards and in the state forest area, in which representatives of the Ministry, staff of the National Forestry Agency, and the Department of Environmental Supervision were involved.

"It is critical for us to gather accurate information about the forest and bring it together in a unified system. The Estonian model of the electronic timber registration system will help the forest management and supervision bodies to exercise effective state control in the field of forest use and forest protection, ”- said Yuri Nozadze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Embassy of Estonia, the company "Timbeter", the National Forestry Agency, the Department of Environmental Supervision, and the Agency for Protected Areas.
