Forest Restoration Operations Underway in Kakheti Region
Besik Amiranashvili, Head of the National Forestry Agency, inspected the progress of forest restoration projects on site in the Kakheti region.
Under the Agency’s initiative, forest care and restoration measures are currently underway across 727 hectares of floodplain forest in the Tsnori and Chiauri forest beats. As part of these comprehensive activities, a total of 31,050 oak and ash saplings will be planted across the area.
“Improving the quantitative and qualitative indicators of forest ecosystems is one of our primary priorities. The nationwide forest maintenance, restoration, sanitary cutting, and inventory operations all serve this very goal. It is vital that every project focuses on restoring, enhancing, and preserving high ecological value forest ecosystems. We continuously monitor ongoing projects to ensure that all works are executed in strict accordance with target objectives and established standards,” stated Besik Amiranashvili.
The National Forestry Agency continues to expand the scale of its degraded forest restoration operations annually. In line with the agency's 10-year strategy, forest restoration measures will be implemented across a total area of 51,000 hectares nationwide.
