Forest Inventory Works Begin in Borjomi and Bakuriani Forest Districts
On the initiative of the National Forestry Agency, forest inventory works have commenced in the Borjomi and Bakuriani forest districts. Besik Amiranashvili, Head of the National Forestry Agency, visited the site to inspect the field operations.
The inventory operations will cover an area of 45,727 hectares, following which a Forest Management Plan will be developed. This plan will outline all forestry management measures for the upcoming ten-year period, including sanitary cutting, forest restoration activities, and forest road construction, among others.
'The National Forestry Agency is conducting forest inventory works on a continuous basis, which collectively ensures the improvement of both quantitative and qualitative indicators of the country's forests. Forest inventory serves as the foundation for the forest management action plan, allowing us to accurately and effectively plan forestry activities for the next ten years. All of these measures together guarantee the successful implementation of the forestry reform,' stated Besik Amiranashvili, Head of the National Forestry Agency.
It is worth noting that, to date, inventory works have been fully completed across more than 50% of the territory managed by the Forestry Agency. By the end of 2026, inventory activities will cover a total of 238,000 hectares across the Shida Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti, and Kvemo Kartli regions.
