Illegal Logging and Timber Transportation in Kharagauli
A case of illegal logging and timber transportation was detected in the Imereti region. The violation was captured in Kharagauli by a camera trap installed in the state forest.
A local resident was transporting illegally obtained hornbeam and beech firewood using a personally owned vehicle. Employees of the Imereti Forestry Service drew up an administrative violation report. The vehicle was impounded and sealed, and the illegally obtained firewood was transferred to the Khevi business yard.
The modern technological tools with which regional forestry services are fully equipped whether camera traps, body cameras, or drones allow us to make law enforcement measures against violations significantly more effective, ultimately minimizing cases of illegal logging. To prevent further violations, we will continue our active work in the future,' - stated Besik Amiranashvili, Head of the National Forestry Agency
