Print

As a result of joint measures taken by the employees of the Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti Forestry Service and the Lentekhi District Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a large amount of timber was harvested and transported.

The offender stored up to 42 cubic meters of illegally harvested coniferous timber on state forest territory in the village of Kheledi, and was intended to transport it using a privately owned off-road vehicle. Since the case contains elements of a criminal offense, the materials were sent to the relevant investigative agency. The illegally harvested and stored timber, as well as special equipment and vehicles, will be transported to the “business yard” of the village of Lesemi, Lentekhi.

According to the Head of the National Forestry Agency, Besik Amiranashvili, to tighten forest monitoring and control, the relevant structural units of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture are conducting patrols throughout the country. Monitoring is carried out using modern technologies. Any violations detected are subject to measures established by law.
