At the initiative of the National Forestry Agency, in the village of Surebi in the Guria region, restoration works on a 9-kilometer section of forestry and agricultural roads were carried out in accordance with international standards within the framework of the project "ECO Georgia".
"The National Forestry Agency is carrying out the rehabilitation of forestry and agricultural roads throughout the country. This will contribute to the effective implementation of forestry and agricultural activities, as well as, if necessary, fire prevention measures," noted Natia Iordanishvili, Deputy Head of the National Forestry Agency.
The project "ECO.Georgia" is being implemented in three target regions (Guria, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kakheti) with the joint efforts of the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, co-financed by the Green Climate Fund, Germany, Switzerland, and the Government of Georgia.
It is worth noting that, at the initiative of the National Forestry Agency, to ensure the smooth implementation of fire prevention and forestry activities, forest road construction and rehabilitation projects will be implemented across the country on 168 km, in particular, 20.20 km of forest-agricultural roads will be constructed, and 147.80 km of forest roads will be rehabilitated.
