Employees of the Samtskhe-Javakheti Forestry Service revealed the case of illegal timber logging and transportation in the Bakuriani forest area. The violation was recorded on a video trap installed in the state forest.

A resident illegally obtained 5 cubic meters of coniferous timber in the state forest and transported it using an off-road vehicle.

An administrative offense report was drawn up against the violator. The vehicle was sealed, and the illegally harvested timber was transferred to the Tsagveri business yard for further disposal.

"One of the main goals of the reform planned in the forestry sector is to strengthen forest monitoring and control. For effective implementation of monitoring, the technological re-equipment of the agency with modern means is additionally envisaged, which will significantly reduce the number of illegal logging incidents," said Besik Amiranashvili, Head of the National Forestry Agency.
