Timber illegal logging and transportation statistics - January 2026

Employees of the National Forestry Agency identified 32 cases of violations in January of the current year.

Of these violations, 28 cases involved the illegal harvesting and transportation of timber. In total, up to 112 cubic meters of illegally obtained timber of various species were seized and placed in the Agency’s storage yards.

Among the cases of illegal timber harvesting, 1 violation was identified by employees of the Imereti Forestry Service, 2 by Samtskhe–Javakheti, 1 by Ratcha–Lechkhumi and lower Svaneti, 4 by lower Kartli, 10 by Kakheti, 1 by Mtskheta–Mtianeti, 2 by Guria, 5 by Samegrelo–upper Svaneti, and 2 by the Shida Kartli Forestry Service.

In addition, 3 cases of unauthorized occupation of state forest land and 1 unregistered sawmill were identified in the Kakheti region.

Three of the violations contain signs of criminal offenses, and the materials have been forwarded to the relevant investigative authorities.
