The National Forestry Agency has a new head

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songulashvili, introduced the new Head of the National Forestry Agency, Besik Amiranashvili, to the agency’s staff.

The Minister wished Besik Amiranashvili success in implementing the important projects planned within the framework of the forestry reform.

“Taking into account his professionalism and experience, including working with the regions, we decided to appoint Mr. Besik Amiranashvili, who is ready to lead the implementation of the important reform we have planned. The sector will continue to develop further, we will better protect forests and take care of their restoration; we must use more effectively the resources that represent our country’s wealth; at the same time, we will support the development of the Agency itself. As you know, within the framework of the reform, starting from January of this year, the salaries of forest rangers have been doubled, which undoubtedly increases employee motivation,” noted the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songulashvili.

The Minister thanked the former Head of the Forestry Agency, Kakha Tsertsvadze, for his work and contribution to the development of the sector.

Besik Amiranashvili is a lawyer by profession. He has many years of experience in public service, including serving as State Representative in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region; until now, Besik Amiranashvili held the position of Chairperson of the Agency of Protected Areas under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

Besik Amiranashvili thanked the Minister for the trust shown to him and expressed his readiness to lead the ongoing reform process in the forestry sector.
