The statistics of detected violations in 2025
The employees of the regional forestry departments of the National Forestry Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture have identified 877 violations this year. Over the course of the year, 773 cases of illegal logging and transportation of timber have been detected, including unregistered sawmills. The volume of resources stored in "Business yards" amounted to 1,706 cubic meters. Employees of the regional forestry departments have also identified 101 cases of illegal occupation of state forest fund land and 3 other administrative violations. Effective state control, as well as the prevention, detection, and elimination of illegal use of natural resources, remains a key priority for the Ministry.
"Among the detected violations, 31 cases show signs of criminal offenses. To detect violations, we carry out monitoring, including patrolling, as well as using modern technologies. This year, the legislation regarding illegal logging and transportation of timber has been tightened. We will continue to work actively in this area in the future," stated Kaha Tsertsvadze, head of the National Forestry Agency.
