Illegal sawmill and construction timber in Akhmeta
Employees of the Kakheti Forestry Service discovered an unregistered sawmill operating in the state forest in Akhmeta. In the area adjacent to the makeshift-installed sawmill, they found up to 18 cubic meters of unmarked beech construction timber and primary processing products - planks.
The unregistered sawmill has been sealed, and the illegally harvested construction timber will be transported to the Akhmeta “business yard” for further processing and disposal.
Since the case contains signs of a criminal offense, the materials will be forwarded to the relevant investigative agency for further action.
