Employees of the Kvemo Kartli Forestry Service have revealed the fact of illegal logging and timber transportation in the Bolnisi-Dmanisi forest district. A resident illegally obtained up to 5 cubic meters of first-grade hornbeam species. The violation was recorded by a video trap placed in the state forest, which was followed by an operational response from the Forestry Service employees.

Since the case contains signs of a criminal offense, the materials were sent to the relevant investigative agency for further investigation. The vehicle was sealed, and the illegally harvested timber was transported to the Dmanisi “business yard”.

The fight against illegal logging is a top priority of the National Forestry Agency. To ensure the effective implementation of prevention, detection, and suppression measures, the National Forestry Agency has also purchased appropriate vehicles and equipment. 750 camera traps have been placed in state forests across the country. To strengthen control over the forest, monitoring is also carried out using drones and surveillance cameras.
