Illegal logging and transportation of timber detected in Bakuriani-Tsaghveri forest district
Employees of the Samtskhe-Javakheti Forest Service have detected a large amount of illegal logging in the Bakuriani-Tsaghveri forest district. A resident illegally obtained up to 5 cubic meters of coniferous timber.
An administrative offense report was drawn up against the violator, and the illegally harvested timber was transferred to the Tsaghveri “business yard” for further disposal.
To prevent illegal logging and timber transportation, regional forestry services are fully equipped with the necessary technical means. Monitoring is carried out, in addition to drones, through camera traps and surveillance cameras placed in state forests, which allows for enhanced control over the forest.
