Kakha Kakabadze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, along with the Head of the National Forestry Agency, inspected the forest restoration activities in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region on site.

An area of up to 123 hectares in the Bakuriani forest district was selected based on the forest management plan, where natural regeneration work is underway. The forest restoration project is expected to be completed by 2027.

The area represents spruce groves degraded by unsystematic logging in the past, covered with shrubs, thornbush, and dense herbaceous cover, which is a major factor hindering the growth and development of plants. Therefore, to obtain high-density forest groves, it is necessary to implement measures to promote natural forest regeneration.

"The scale of forest maintenance and restoration activities is increasing every year. This is part of our policy. In 2024-2025, the National Forestry Agency carried out works on an area of up to 4,085.9 hectares across the country. According to the long-term plan, by 2030, we will carry out forest restoration works on an area of at least 20,000 hectares," said Kakha Tsertsvadze, Head of the National Forestry Agency.
