Employees of the Imereti Forestry Service uncovered a case of illegal cutting of red-listed chestnut species in the Boslevi forestry district of Zestafoni Municipality.
A local lawbreaker illegally obtained 4 cubic meters of first grade timber. An assessment of the environmental damage is underway. Since the case contains elements of a criminal offense, the materials have been forwarded to the relevant investigative agency, while the illegally obtained timber has been transported to the Zestafoni operations yard for further processing.
