Illegal logging and transportation fact in Mtskheta-Mtianeti
Employees of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Forestry Service uncover illegal logging and transportation in Tianeti
Employees of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Forestry Service have identified a case of large-scale illegal logging and transportation of timber in the state forest near Tianeti.
The offender was transporting up to 9 cubic meters of beech timber for construction purposes using a high-clearance vehicle.
The violation was detected through video traps installed in the state forest for monitoring purposes.
The vehicle was sealed, and the illegally obtained timber was transferred to the Tianeti operational yard for further processing and management.
“To prevent and combat the illegal use of timber resources, employees of the relevant divisions of the National Forestry Agency conduct 24-hour patrols. I would like to emphasize that numerous cases of illegal use of natural resources have been detected through modern technologies - video traps and drones. I also want to highlight that strict sanctions prescribed by law are applied to every violation,” said Kakha Tsertsvadze, Head of the National Forestry Agency.
