Forest inventory works are started in Adigeni municipality. After completing a three-month training program prepared by the National Forestry Agency, forestry specialists will carry out inventory work on an area of 30,000 hectares. The third phase of the training was supported by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Zavita. The project "Sustainable Forest Management in Adigeni Municipality" is implemented with the financial support of the Government of Slovenia. For the past two years, foresters have carried out inventory works in Lagodekhi, Akhmeta, Dedoplistskaro, and Sighnaghi. The Agency will continue its activities in this direction in 2021 as well.

"It is important that the number of people wishing to retrain is growing every year. A new stream of forest-taxators will carry out inventory work in Adigeni Municipality this time. Hiring forestry specialists, as in previous years, is one of the priorities of the Agency. The development of the sector depends on them,” - said Archil Nikoleishvili, the Head of the National Forestry Agency.

Forest inventory is the basis for sustainable forest management and planning of all types of forestry activities. Its audit period is 10 years, however, the most recent forest inventory materials in the country are dated by 1997. Unfortunately, there are not enough qualified forestry specialists (so-called taxators) to carry out field and forest management plan preparation work in the country today. Accordingly, the National Forestry Agency also supports forest education.

The National Forestry Agency has been able to restore the forest inventory process since 2013. To date, information on the quantitative and qualitative indicators of forests has been updated for the 232,316 hectares under the management of the Agency, and forest management plans have been prepared for the next 10 years.
