The fact of illegal logging and transportation of timber in the state forest in the Khoni municipality
Employees of the Imereti Forestry Service discovered a case of illegal logging and timber transportation in the state forest near the village of Gordi, in the Khoni municipality.
The offenders were transporting up to 5 cubic meters of chestnut wood, a species listed in the Red Book as protected, using a high-clearance vehicle without a state registration plate. The vehicle has been impounded and transported to the Khoni's bunsiness yard. Since the case contains elements of a criminal offense, the materials have been forwarded to the relevant authorities for further action.
