Case of Illegal Logging and Timber Transportation in Kvemo Kartli

Print

Employees of the Kvemo Kartli Forestry Service have uncovered a case of illegal logging and transportation of timber. The offender illegally harvested up to 6 cubic meters of hornbeam firewood from state forest land in the Bolnisi Municipality. A high-clearance vehicle was sealed, an administrative violation report was drawn up, and the illegally obtained timber was transferred to the Bolnisi “business Yard.”

The prevention, detection, and suppression of illegal use of natural resources is one of the main priorities of the National Forestry Agency under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

In the first six months of 2025, employees of the Kvemo Kartli Forestry service employees detected 26 violations, compared to 69 violations during the same period in 2024. It is important to note that the number of violations has significantly decreased compared to the previous year. To detect violations, monitoring is also carried out using photo traps and drones placed in state forests.
