Employees of the National Forestry Agency have identified violations in the Kakheti and Mtskheta-Mtianeti regions.

An unregistered sawmill, located in the village of Akhalsopeli in the Kvareli municipality, was set up by a local resident on their own residential plot. The sawmill was sealed by employees of the Kakheti Forest Service and relocated to the Kvareli business yard. The case materials have been forwarded to the relevant investigative agency for further action.

Additionally, in the Tianeti municipality, three unauthorized charcoal kilns were discovered on state forest land. Around 10 cubic meters of illegally harvested firewood were also found in the surrounding area. An administrative violation report has been drawn up, and the firewood was transported to the Tianeti business yard for further processing and potential sale.

“In order to prevent the illegal use of natural resources, the National Forestry Agency operates actively, practically around the clock. It is important to note that monitoring is also conducted using modern technologies — including camera traps and drones. Employees of both the National Forestry Agency and the Environmental Supervision Department are involved in nationwide patrolling,” said Kakha Tsertsvadze, Head of the National Forestry Agency.
