Timber illegal logging and transportation statistics - January 2025

Of the violations, 43 involved illegal logging and transportation of timber. Up to 52 cubic meters of illegally logged timber of various species were seized, which were to be stored in the agency's "business yards" for further disposal.

Of the illegal logging across the country, 16 violations were identified by employees of the Kakheti Forestry Service, 10 by employees of the Samtskhe-Javakheti, 6 by employees of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 1 by employees of the Imereti Forestry Service, 2 by employees of the Kvemo Kartli, 2 by employees of the Shida Kartli, 3 by employees of the Guria, 1 by employees of the Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti and 2 by employees of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Forestry Services.

Employees of regional forestry services have also identified 4 cases of arbitrary seizure of state forest funds.

The National Forestry Agency's priority direction is forest restoration activities. These have been implemented on an area of ​​4,000 hectares across the country, and according to the plan, restoration works will be carried out on an area of ​​at least 20,000 hectares by 2030.

To prevent violations, camera traps have been installed around the perimeter of the state forest managed by the National Forestry Agency. This, along with patrols by forestry service employees, enables the detection of illegal use of natural resources.
