Delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan in Borjomi Municipality

The members of the delegation of the National Forestry Agency of the Republic of Tajikistan, within the framework of their visit to Georgia, were in the forest massif burned in 2008 and 2017, in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, in the Borjomi valley, where they got acquainted with the approaches and existing practices related to forest restoration in Georgia and the measures to combat pests and diseases in the territory of the Borjomi plateau.

 

It should be noted that restoration efforts for the burned forest in the Borjomi valley were carried out on an area of ​​636 hectares and a total of 346 thousand saplings were planted. In order to establish a sustainable forest ecosystem, measures were taken to promote the natural renewal of the forest.

Within the framework of the visit, the members of the delegation visited the visitor center of Borjom-Kharagauli National Park, where they received information about the unique biodiversity present in the park, as well as learned about the specifics of the management of the protected areas of Georgia and the activities of the rangers.

 

At the end of the visit, the members of the delegation of the National Forestry Agency of the Republic of Tajikistan visited the Jighaura’s and Tsilkani’s test-demonstration bases of the Agricultural Scientific Research Center, where they visited the laboratory of the research service for standards and certification of seeds and planting materials, the collection of vines, fruit trees and agroforestry plants and were introduced to the center's activities; They received information about the projects implemented in recent years in the field of agroforestry and the species protected in the collection. It should be noted that 100 species are preserved in the collection of forest crops of Jighaura, including unique and endangered species.
