Visit of the National Forestry Agency of the Republic of Tajikistan

Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Kakha Kakabadze met with the head of Tajikistan national Forestry Agency Abdujabbor Yusufzoda. Representatives of the National Forestry Agency and relevant state agencies of Tajikistan attended the meeting. The parties talked about sharing the experience of Georgia in the field of forest management and the perspective of future cooperation; Georgian specialists introduced their Tajik colleagues to the existing practices in the direction of forest, biodiversity, protected areas and agroforestry management.

"It is important for us to interest our colleagues in the practices we have in the direction of forest management, biodiversity protection and agroforestry. It should be noticed that the forestry sector of Georgia has always stood out in the region. Then the field went through quite difficult stages. Since 2013, reforms have been launched that strengthen the forestry sector, introduce the principles of sustainable forest management and, as a result, bring ecological, economic and social benefits to our population. Each relevant agency included in the system of the Ministry improves its activities every year in order to achieve the set goals", said Kakha Kakabadze, Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture.

Within the framework of the visit, the members of the delegation will also visit the massif of the forest burned in 2008 and 2017 in the Borjomi valley, where they will learn about the approaches and practices related to forest restoration in Georgia.

It is worth noting that restoration works were carried out in the burned forest in Borjomi valley on an area of ​​636 hectares and a total of 346 thousand saplings were planted. In order to establish a sustainable forest ecosystem, measures to promote the natural renewal of the forest were also implemented. The members of the delegation will learn about measures to combat pests and diseases in the territory of the Borjomi Plateau; They will also visit the visitor center of the Borjom-Kharagauli National Park.

At the end of the working visit, members of the delegation of the State Forestry Agency of the Republic of Tajikistan will visit the Jighaura test-demonstration base of the Agricultural Research Center, where they will visit the laboratory of the Certification Research Service.
