The National Forestry Agency is carrying out works on the restoration of the forestry-agricultural roads leading to felling area on a section of up to 8 kilometers in the village of Sureb in the Guria region.

"The National Forestry Agency is rehabilitating forestry and agricultural roads throughout the country. On the one hand, the restoration of the forest roads leading to the forests will make it easier for the population to get firewood from the forests, on the other hand, it will contribute to the implementation of fire prevention measures and forest maintenance and restoration works, which means that the ecological condition of the forests and the effectiveness of the measures to fight fires will improve," noted the National Head of Forestry Agency Kakha Tsertsvadze.

The construction and rehabilitation of forest roads in the target regions (Guria, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kakheti) is being carried out on the basis of the grant agreement signed between the National Forestry Agency and the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) within the framework of the ECO Georgia project financed by the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

In parallel with the rehabilitation of forestry and agricultural roads, the National Forestry Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture conducts the works of timber production, sorting and storage in "business yards". In total, 54 "business yards" have been set up in almost all regions of the country, from which the population can purchase firewood in the desired period.
