Forest inventory works in the frame of GCF project

In Ozurgeti Municipality, forest inventory works will be carried out on a total area of ​​19,300 ha.

In Ozurgeti municipality, the fieldwork of statistical forest inventory (FMI) started in June and will be completed in November. The inventory is carried out by forestry appraisers trained within the training program of the National Forestry Agency and the Center for Environmental Information and Education.

The forest inventory in Ozurgeti is carried out within the framework of the ECO Georgia project financed by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), within the framework of the grant agreement signed between the National Forestry Agency and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Before commencing the fieldwork, the heads of the National Forestry Agency met with the Ozurgeti municipality mayor's office and local self-government representatives to discuss the significance of forest inventory and issues related to forest use.
