The fact of timber illegal transportation in the state forest was revealed in the village of Tlughi, Ambrolauri municipality. A resident was transporting up to 9 cubic meters of pine wood he had illegally obtained.   The employees of the Racha-Lechkhum-Kvemo Svaneti Forestry Service detected the violation of the law through a photo trap installed to monitor the illegal use of natural resources. The vehicle was sealed by the Ambrolauri Police Department and taken to the Ambrolauri business yard. Environmental damage is being calculated. Since the case contains signs of a criminal offense, the materials were delegated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for further action.

"To prevent violations of the law, photo traps are placed on the entire perimeter of the state forest under the management of the National Forestry Agency, which, together with the patrolling of the forestry service employees, allows the detection of illegal use of natural resources. Strict sanctions are imposed on any violation of the law", said the head of the National Forestry Agency, Kakha Tsertsvadze.
