Timber illegal logging and transportation statistics - April 2004
The National Forestry Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture employees detected 125 illegal logging and timber transportation cases in April 2024 across the country.
24 violations were detected by the employees of the Kakheti Forest Service, 1 - Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 4 - Kvemo Kartli, 11 - Shida Kartli, 38 - Samtskhe-Javakheti, 3 - Guria, 36 - Imereti, 1 - Racha Lechkhumi - Kvemo Svaneti, and 7 - Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Forest Service.
Documentation has been prepared for the offenders, and their vehicles have been impounded and moved to the agency's "business yards". Case materials were sent to relevant agencies for further response.
In April 2024, National Forestry Agency employees impounded 34,295 cubic meters of various wood types which were moved to the agency's "business yards".
As for the period from January to April 2024, the National Forestry Agency has identified 334 facts of illegal logging and transportation of timber throughout the country, the volume of resources stored in "business yards" amounts to 266,644 cubic meters.
