In 2020, the National Forestry Agency carried out reforestation works on an area of 1.3 hectares in the village of Khamiskuri, Khobi Municipality. 6100 deciduous seedlings were planted in the forest area.

The main function of the National Forestry Agency as a forest management body is sustainable forest management, forest maintenance, and sustainable use of biodiversity components in the forest fund area.

Last year, up to 160 hectares of forest were restored across the country as a result of work carried out by the National Forestry Agency.

It should be noted that Georgia's "Nationally Defined Contribution" to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change envisages the implementation of measures for afforestation and restoration of pre-identified 1,500 ha by 2030, as well as promoting natural remediation of 7,500 ha of forest area.

Within the framework of its commitments under the Framework Convention on Climate Change, the National Forestry Agency implements planting works on 150 hectares of forest each year, thus restoring natural forest cover.
