In connection with International Forest Day, at the initiative of the National Forestry Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, an informational meeting was held with students of St. Nino third public school in Kutaisi. A planting campaign was organized in the territory of the state forest. The students received information about the importance of the forest, its protection and restoration, and symbolically planted 21 coniferous and deciduous saplings. Kutaisi Day Center "Magic World" beneficiaries - children with Down syndrome joined the planting action.

"Community involvement and transparency of the process is one of the prerequisites for sustainable forest management. The interest of young people and their activities is of special importance. I would also like to point out that the promotion of professional education and attracting young staff in the field is the main priority of the National Forestry Agency. We hope that there will be more and more interest in this profession, as well as in the care and preservation of the forest ecosystem", - noted Natia Iordanishvili, Deputy Head of the National Forestry Agency.

March 21 was recognized as the International Forest Day by the UN General Assembly in 1971. The purpose of this day is to raise public awareness about the importance of forests.
