Additional 17 "business yards" will be arranged till the end of 2023
In order to create a more efficient system for timber production and delivery, "business yards" are being established throughout the country. So far, the National Forestry Agency has established 40 "business yards". By the end of the year, 17 more "business yards" will be established in Kakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, and Guria regions.
Kakha Tsertsvadze, the Head of the National Forestry Agency, inspected the progress of the construction of a "business yard" in the village of Kudro in Mtskheta-Mtianeti.
The National Forestry Agency provides the population with firewood obtained through organized forest management. To make it easier for people to purchase firewood and use transportation services, the agency has launched new services.
"Inhabitants can now purchase firewood and industrial wood in a ready-made form from business yards, eliminating the need for them to source their own resources or undertake dangerous activities in the forest. According to the plan, the "business yard" will be organized in all municipalities and will be equipped with appropriate human and technical resources. We also purchased special-purpose equipment", said the Head of the National Forestry Agency, Kakha Tsertsvadze.
With the co-financing of the Green Climate Fund, the governments of Germany, Switzerland, and Georgia, the project to support the forest sector of Georgia - "ECO.Georgia" was launched, one of the main implementers of which is the National Forestry Agency. Over the next 5 years, the project will cover 8 municipalities in 3 regions of Georgia. Its goal is to reduce pressure on Georgia's forests by implementing measures necessary for sustainable forest management.
