As part of the International Day of Tree Planting celebration, the National Forestry Agency organized a tree-planting event in the yard of Misaksiel's public school. As part of the "Plant a Tree" campaign by the National Forestry Agency, around 20 conifer species seedlings were planted in the area surrounding the school. Schoolchildren were joined by well-known public figures such as civil activists, journalists, actors, and sportsmen to participate in the campaign. The students of the school will be responsible for maintaining the plants. The event aims to raise public awareness regarding forest maintenance and preservation.

"The event aims to raise public awareness regarding forest maintenance and preservation. "The National Forestry Agency gives high priority to planning and executing forest restoration measures across the country. Over the years, the agency has significantly increased its efforts in this direction to meet the obligations of the Framework Convention on Climate Change. The country must ensure that more than 4,000 hectares of degraded forests are restored by 2030, and the agency is committed to this goal. The agency has been taking steps towards reforestation in recent years, and by 2023, it plans to restore 1535 hectares of forested area," said the Head of the National Forestry Agency, Kakha Tsertsvadze.

International Tree Planting Day was established in 1874 by American botanist and Minister of Agriculture Sterling Morton.
