Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Kakha Kakabadze, together with the representatives of the National Forestry Agency, met with the General Director of the French National Forestry Office, Valery Metrich Eket, within the framework of a working visit to Paris.

The parties discussed the issues of the sanitary state of forests, biodiversity and sustainable forest management, cooperation with environmental non-governmental and scientific organizations, and communication with the local population. French National Forest Office's representative introduced the prepared climate change strategy to the Georgian side at the meeting.

"Part of the challenges that Georgia's forestry sector faces today is also a challenge for the French side. Climate change and its negative impact on forests, pest and disease management, and other similar issues require decisions not only at the national level. We think that France's experience will help us improve our approaches. Georgia is taking important steps on the path of European integration, several important reforms are underway, and taking into account the country's national interests, the forestry reform has a special place among them", - noted Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Kakha Kakabadze.
