The National Forestry Agency, with the co-financing of the Caucasus NGO-s Network (CENN) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), will implement a forest restoration project in Dedoplistskaro. 93-ha degraded oak grove has been selected as the target area, where measures to promote the natural restoration of the forest will be carried out.

Within the framework of the project, about 30 units of necessary equipment and techniques were handed over to the National Forestry Agency for forest restoration activities. Also, the local community representatives, who will be involved in the natural restoration of the forest according to the project prepared by the agency, were financed.

"Increasing the scale of forest restoration measures is one of the agency's main priorities, and today, together with our international partners, the volunteer platform "Friend of the Forest" allows us to do this. The ongoing 93-hectare reforestation project in Dedoplistskaro is a good example of such cooperation. It is important that the local population will be employed for the works" - said the Head of the National Forestry Agency, Kakha Tsertsvadze.

"Promoting the restoration of ecosystems to reduce drought risk and increase resilience" - the project is implemented at the global level by IUCN with the financial support of the Austrian Development Agency.
