The forest inventory field work will start this June on a total area of 98,000 ha in of Kvareli and Telavi municipalities. Ten-year forest management plans will be prepared by 2024.

Managers of the National Forestry Agency discussed the issues related to forest inventory and land use at the meeting held with the mayors of Kvareli and Telavi municipalities and local self-government representatives.

The state forest inventory is carried out on the basis of the grant agreement signed between the National Forestry Agency and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) within the framework of the ECO Georgia project financed by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Forest appraisers trained within the training program of the National Forestry Agency and the Environmental Information and Education Center will also be involved in the inventory process.
