May 22 - International Biodiversity Day
Within the framework of International Biodiversity Day, at the initiative of the National Forestry Agency, a planting action was held on the territory of the Nino Fathers' Monastery St. Foka. Together with the Samtskhe-Javakheti Forestry Service employees, local residents and forestry students of the Vocational School "Opizar" took part in the action. As part of the campaign, about 100 saplings of conifer species were planted on the monastery's territory, which will be cared for by clergy and parishioners.
The United Nations General Assembly announced May 22 as the International Biodiversity Day in 2000.
