At the initiative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the arrangement of the "business yards" is being completed in almost all regions of Georgia. Davit Aladashvili, Deputy Head of the National Forestry Agency, has opened a "business yard" in Bakuriani, Samtskhe-Javakheti region, which will serve about 33 villages.

The National Forestry Agency is changing the timber practice. Social logging will be phased out, the agency will organize timber production, sorting, and warehousing in "business yards". This change will make it easier for the population and private sector to purchase and transport timber at the desired time.

The works for arranging the "business yards" have already been completed at 17 objects. By the end of the year, a total of 26 "business yards" will be arranged across the country. As a result, in order to produce timber resources, forest use will be implemented much more effectively, illegal logging and negative impact on the forest will be reduced.

It should be noted that the new Forest Code is an important part of the forest sector reform, the main purpose of which is to establish multi-purpose forest use, preserve and protect forest ecosystems, and use social and economic benefits wisely. Arranging the so-called "business yards", along with other issues provided by the Code, is one of the main tools for the introduction of sustainable forest management.
